Back To Periscope!

Happy 2017!  Can you believe we are in the year 2017?  I am really having a hard time coming to terms with this.  =)  Well 2016 was a good year, full of learning experiences and rest.  God was faithful and a good, good Father and I know He will continue to be this year!

Through prayer, I am starting back up on Periscope again in a more focused and structured manner.  I really feel led to broadcast about things that I am passionate about.  So I am including my schedule on this post for those of you who would like to join me in the broadcasts that matter to you! periscope-broadcast-sheet

We will begin our study in the Book of Matthew today at 9am p/t.  Then, I will teach a vocal class at 11am p/t.  Lastly, we will have some casual worship time at 6:30pm p/t where I will lead you in worshipping the Lord through song, with prayer time at the end.  It is going to be a good day!

Hope you will be able to join me on Periscope.  Here is the link to my Periscope page: https://www.periscope.tv/LaraMarriott/1yNxadnkyBXJj

Blessings to you as you go into this year.  It is my prayer that God’s Holy Spirit will draw you closer to Him.

By The Streams Of Grace

Here is another song I wrote years back.  It is based out of Psalm 23, my absolute life verse.

By The Streams Of Grace

©2007 Lara Marriott

By the streams of grace I find You

Down the paths of righteousness

In the stillness of Your mercy

Is where I long to rest

By the streams of grace I find You

You supply what I need

A place where Your abundance flows

You renew me

By the streams of grace You restore my soul

By the streams of grace is where Your love is shown

You’re my shepherd, my father

I serve and adore

I long for nothing, but to be

By Your streams of grace

Your rod and staff protect me

Through the valley of dark despair

You are walking right beside me

Taking me away from all my fear

Your rod and staff; they guide me

Your blessings are awaiting me

It is only in You I trust for

You are saving me, Oh

By the streams of grace You restore my soul

By the streams of grace is where Your love is shown

You’re my shepherd, my father

I serve and adore

I long for nothing, but to be

By Your streams of grace

By Your streams of grace

I will forever rest

By Your streams of grace

By the streams of grace I find You

Celebrate The Seasons

I’m sharing three of my songs today that I’ve written.  I hope they will bless you.

Celebrate The Seasons

©2007 Lara Marriott

I found myself reflecting back to memories

I thought about every numbered year

In all the things I’ve gone through, in all the years I’ve found

Times of joy, love, hope, and the tears that I’ve battled

What do I do with all these painted pictures

There are too many to count

I celebrate the seasons of life

Capturing each one of them in my mind

I celebrate the seasons of life

Too precious to let go

Unique to me alone

I am blessed by my journeyed road

Each year of mine in worn upon my face; in my eyes

I wear them as proud badges of honor

The portraits of my life are completely designed

My experiences come in every kind of color

What is told in all of these painted memories

They are what I’ve been blessed to leave behind

I celebrate the seasons of life

Capturing each one of them in my mind

I celebrate the seasons of life

Too precious to let go

Unique to me alone

I am blessed by my journeyed road

What a gift from God I’ve been given

To say this is where I’ve been

To tell the stories of my past glories

And the hard times I’ve come out of

Oh and still I will say

I celebrate the seasons of life

Capturing each one of them in my mind

I celebrate the seasons of life

Too precious to let go

Unique to me alone

I am blessed by my journeyed road

I am blessed by my journeyed road

I am thankful…

It’s All About You

It’s All About You

When I am sick, You make me well

When I am tired, You provide my rest

When I am cast down, You lift me up again

When I am poor, You offer Your wealth

When I am lost, You see that I’m found

When I’m in doubt, You reveal Your promise

For it is You who’s life

You are truth

You are the way

It’s all about You

You have my heart

It is You my bright light

When I am weary from the dark

Oh, it’s all about You

You’re in the lows and in the highs

You’re the giver of my life

It’s all about You

When I am joyful, You make me dance

When I’m at peace, I see all Your goodness

When I have faith, with you nothing can stop me

For You are life

You are truth

You are the way

It’s all about You

You have my heart

It is You my bright light

When I am weary from the dark

Oh, it’s all about You

You’re in the lows and in the highs

You’re the giver of my life

It’s all about You

You have restored me

You’ve forgiven me

You have made all things right (2x)

It’s all about You

You have my heart

It is You my bright light

When I am weary from the dark

Oh, it’s all about You

You’re in the lows and in the highs

You’re the giver of my life

It’s all about You

Devotion For Today ~

Honestly, I never thought I would be quoting from this kind of devotional. When someone told me about Oswald Chamber’s devotional book “My Utmost For His Highest,” it was from someone much older than me.  I received a very nice copy of one from my christian high school for graduation.  As I perused it, I found the words and the concepts to be over my head. So I tucked it away in my stack of books and forgot about it.

Now that I am in my upper 30’s I’ve pulled it out again on a whim.  Each time I’ve open the pages to read an excerpt I have been blown away by the profound wisdom of Oswald Chamber’s teachings.

Here is the devotion for today.  There is no candy coating here.  He tells it like it is and I am actually very appreciative of it.  If you’d like to buy your own copy, you can on Amazon by clicking here: My Utmost For His Highest

THE FOCUS OF OUR MESSAGE

“I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” – Matthew 10:34

“Never be sympathetic with a person whose situation causes you to conclude that God is dealing harshly with him.  God can be more tender than we can conceive, and every once in a while He gives us the opportunity to deal firmly with someone so that he may be viewed as the tender One.  If a person cannot go to God, it is because he has something secret which he does not intend to give up-he may admit his sin, but would no more give up that thing than he could fly under his own power.  It is impossible to deal sympathetically with people like that.  We must reach down deep in their lives to the root of the problem, which will cause hostility and resentment toward the message.  People want the blessing of God, but they can’t stand something that pierces right through to the heart of the matter.

If you are sensitive to God’s way, your message as His servant will be merciless and insistent, cutting to the very root.  Otherwise, there will be no healing.  We must drive the message home so forcefully that a person cannot possibly hide, but must apply its truth.  Deal with people where they are, until they begin to realize their true need.  Then hold high the standard of Jesus for their lives.  Their response may be, “We can never be that.”  Then drive it home with, “Jesus Christ says you must.”   “But how can we be?” “You can’t, unless you have a new Spirit.” (see Luke 11:13)

There must be a sense of need created before your message is of any use.  Thousands of people in this world profess to be happy without God.  But if we could be truly happy and moral without Jesus, then why did He come?  He came because that kind of happiness and peace is only superficial.  Jesus Christ came to “bring…a sword” through every kind of peace that is not based on a personal relationship with Himself.”Oswald Chambers (1874-1917)

I’m amazed at how right on he was.  If I didn’t show when he was living, we would have never known what he said was for a different generation!  I don’t know about you, but I’m going to keep on reading.  Click on the link above if you’d like to get your own copy and join me.

Blessings,

Lara~

Devotion For Today ~

I wanted to share with you the devotion I read this morning from Oswald Chambers, “My Utmost For His Highest” devotional.  His writings are so good even for today.  This was taken from his May 30th excerpt:

“Suppose God tells you to do something that is an enormous test of your common sense, totally going against it.  What will you do?  Will you hold back?  If you get into the habit of doing something physically, you will do it every time you are tested until the same is true spiritually.  Again and again you will come right up to what Jesus wants, but every time you will turn back at the true point of testing, until you are determined to abandon yourself to God in total surrender. Yet we tend to say, ‘Yes, but – suppose I do obey God in this matter, what about…?’  Or we say, ‘Yes, I will obey God if what He asks of me doesn’t go against my common sense, but don’t ask me to take a step in the dark.’

Jesus Christ demands the same unrestrained, adventurous spirit in those who have placed their trust in Him that the natural man exhibits. If a person is ever going to do anything worthwhile, there will be times when he must risk everything by his leap in the dark.  In the spiritual realm, Jesus Christ demands that you risk everything you hold on to or believe through common sense, and leap by faith into what He says.  Once you obey, you will immediately find that what He says is as solidly consistent as common sense.

By the test of common sense, Jesus Christ’s statements may seem mad, but when you test them by the trial of faith, your findings will fill your spirit with the awesome fact that they are the very words of God.  Trust completely in God, and when He brings you to a new opportunity of adventure, offering it to you, see that you take it.  We act like pagans in a crisis-only one out of an entire crowd is daring enough to invest his faith in the character of God.”

Let’s Go Deeper – Book of John Bible Study

I just finished leading a Periscope bible study on the book of John.  If you missed any of the chapters, you can go to my Katch.me account at https://katch.me/LaraMarriott and search for “Let’s Go Deeper” and the chapter(s) you are looking for. They were a joy to do and we found ourselves going deeper in our knowledge of why Jesus came, how He showed His authority, and how loving and selfless He was.  You will love growing deeper through this study of John!

Now, on a side note, I promised my viewers I would post some of the facts from the study on my blog to help bring some clarity and organize the events of Jesus.  So here they are:

  3. Healing of the 38 year old invalid at the pool
  4. Feeding of the 5000 (there were more actually when we include the women and children)
  5. Healing of the man born blind
  6. Raising of Lazarus

  1. The True Vine
  2. The Way, the Truth, and the Life
  3. The Good Shepherd

  6. The Bread of Life

The Seven Sayings of Jesus on the Cross

  1. “Father, forgive the, for they do not know what they are doing.”
  2. “I tell you the truth, today, you will be with Me in paradise.”
  3. “Dear woman, here is your son.” and ” Here is your mother.”
  4. “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
  5. “I am thirsty.”
  6. “It is finished.”
  7. “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.”

I am taking a Thanksgiving/Christmas break and will hopefully be back on Periscope to begin another bible study.  I will be praying about which book of the Bible to do next.  I’ll keep you posted.  Until then, I hope you too will start getting excited about studying the Bible on your own to discover all that God’s Living Word has for you!
